A bit of an update…

Well….it certainly has been a while!

Rylee just passed 100 days of Kindergarten.  She loves her teacher, her new friends and pretty much everything about school.  She loves coming home and having lunch with me before playing with her friends here in the ‘hood.

Brynn is enjoying pre-school as well.  She has a great teacher who has told me she’d rather send Brynn to Kindergarten next year than some the five year olds.  Wow that’s saying a lot!

In the fall we took a much needed vacation to one of our favorite spots…Disney World.  The girls really enjoyed this trip in a new way this time as it was two years since our last trip there.

A few of the highlights:  Breakfast with the princesses in Cinderella’s Castle

A lot of fun at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (despite the rain we really enjoyed ourselves!)  This was the first time we attended and we highly recommend it.

The girls were in their Halloween Costumes..Jake & Izzy from Jake & The Neverland Pirates.

After our trip we came home to some great fall weather.  We got out and about and lots of fun enjoying my favorite season.

Another fall highlight was attending the Penn State/Ohio State game.  We took Rylee and my dad with us.  Rylee really enjoyed tailgating (especially our walk to the Creamery to get ice cream!) and the game.

Thanksgiving was a fun time with family.  One big surprise was the wedding of my cousin Becky.

We thought we were having a just a baby shower for her, but it turned out to be a wedding and then a shower.  What a great day!

After that it was fully swing to Christmas.  Our girls really enjoyed the time leading up to Christmas this year.  Their favorite elf, Max, returned and started their mornings off with some laughs.

This year Max got more adventurous or mischievous.  Either way the girls really enjoyed his antics.  I didn’t always enjoy cleaning up his messes but it was definitely worth it!

We had fun ringing in the New Year with our friends Frank & Paula again.  The kids always have so much fun together too.

As 2013 gets underway we are looking forward to another year full of fun and laughter.  The girls are excited about some of the plans we’ve made and we can’t wait to have new experiences with them soon.

Stay tuned…I promise to post again before five more months go by!

From Brynn…

Brynn wanted to go play outside. She was heading toward the steps on the deck and stopped.
Me to Bill: “Are the bees back because Brynn won’t go down the steps.”
Bill: “I haven’t seen any recently.”
Brynn comes in and says to me: “Mommy there’s a bug on the steps!!”
Me: “Just walk around him. If you don’t bother him he won’t bother you.”
Brynn: “Yes, but I don’t know his name.”

I can see the light….

….at the end of the Huggies tunnel.  Wahoo!

Do you see this, this is a book that my girls loved because that blue button at the top makes the sound of a toilet flushing when you push it.

Recently Brynn made the transition from Pull Ups to underwear for naps.  This means there is just more step for her to take to make us a Huggies-Free home.  Being able to wear underwear to bed!

Last week I decided to take a look at the baby supplies we had on hand. I realized that I had a TON of Huggies wipes.  I wanted them out of my house and I’m sharing the wealth with my brother and a friend of mine. You’re welcome!

I also discovered that there was a stash of Pull Ups in Rylee’s room as well as Brynn’s room.  Oy!  At the rate of using one Pull Up a day, I may never have to buy them again.  Yes, that’s how many we have.  Here’s hoping we don’t have to bring anymore into the house!

In the past month Rylee has made the transition from Pull Ups at night to underwear.  She is feeling like such a big girl and I’m happy that she did it before she turned five. I swear, there were days when I thought that girl would be taking them to college with her.

Last night around 2am I heard Brynn fussing and went in to see what was wrong.  She mumbled to me something about having to pee.  I told her that’s why she had a Pull Up, to just pee in it. I know, I know….a part of me thinks I should have schlepped her to the bathroom to give it try.  But the other part of me realized she wasn’t fully awake and that this trip to the potty could be a complete disaster for both of us.

This morning she did remember the event and talked to me about it.  If she wakes up again and wants to pee in the potty then we will trek across the hall and hope for the best.

Could we be totally Huggies-Free by the end of the year?  I guess I can dream!

*by the way…Huggies in no way sponsored this post, we have been fans of their products for almost five years and we have pretty much only used their products.  We love Huggies, but we’re ready to say good-bye!*

Brynn is 3!

How can that be?  She was just a baby, sucking on two  fingers and scooting backwards across the carpet.

This year Brynn was beyond excited for her birthday.  She talked about the theme, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, since last summer.  Thanks to some help from my sister-in-law Julie and my friend Erin she loved it.  Erin made a great personalized banner with a Mickey Mouse theme.

Julie made this amazing cake.  She really did a great job on it and Brynn was in love with the cake.  She was particularly excited that she got to keep the figurines to play with at home.

This party was on February 4th and it was to celebrate not just Brynn’s birthday but her cousins’ Maiah and Zoie’s birthdays as well as their Dad, my brother Danny.  Julie was so clever because she created “another” cake on the backside of Brynn’s Mickey cake for Maiah & Zoie.  The girls had told Julie what colors they wanted on their cake and Julie hit it dead on.

Not to slight Danny she made him his own cake.  I will say he was a bit selfish and didn’t share his cake with anyone.

Since Brynn’s birthday was on a Saturday we made cupcakes for her to take to school on the Friday before.  Both Rylee and Brynn helped to mix up the batter.  I decorated them after Brynn went to bed and she was so excited to see these in the morning:

Here are photos of her at school on her special day.  She was excited because she got to be line leader too.  That means she was first whenever they went out side to play and to come back inside.  Her teacher, Miss Erika, made her the cute hat that she has proudly worn ever since she got it.  Note the big difference in the before and after shots!

Love ya like Brynn love cake!  I like the bit of icing on her nose the best.  (Of course she commented on how messy Ryland’s face is in the background.)

On Brynn’s birthday, this past Saturday, we headed out for a fun day that Bill and I planned a few months ago. Brynn couldn’t wait to get started on her fun day.

Our first stop was Adventure Aquarium.  We took Maiah and Zoie many years ago when it was first remodeled.  There’s a lot more fun stuff now and there’s still one area, for the kiddos, that is under construction and will open in the Spring.

Brynn’s favorite part was the Hippos.  We had to go back to the exhibit about four times because she wanted to “see them again!”.

Bill and I really enjoyed the shark tunnel..

Rylee said that “everything!” was her favorite.  She really did enjoy the touch pools they had.  Brynn wanted no part of them though.

We got to see a 4D show too.  We saw Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs and Sea Monsters.  We really thought the girls would enjoy it, but we were wrong.  Also, the 3D part of it was rather blurry.  But didn’t Brynn look great in her glasses?

It was such a fun time for all of us.  We’re thrilled that we got a super deal on an annual pass because we all want to go back again soon!

After leaving there we headed toward home and Chuck E. Cheese.  The girls really have a lot of fun playing the games and riding the few rides they have there.  Rylee is definitely getting better at the games.

Once the girls turned in their tickets and gathered their loot it was time to head home for our family party.  Brynn loved her ice cream cake and the gifts she got to open too!

Happy 3rd Birthday to my Baby!

Christmas Craft

The girls are very much enjoying the Christmas season this year.  It’s made it a lot of fun for all of us.

My wonderful friend Erin decided that she could make this litte beauty from Land of Nod herself:

She sure did and she sent our friend Kristina and I both kits to make our own.

Here is what the girls and I created:

After Kristina telling me how tedious it was to cut the numbers out of felt I decided to try Erin’s idea of using puffy paint for the numbers.  It was tough when we got to double digits because those felt pieces are about 2″x3″, but we’re happy with the way it turned out.

The girls are really having fun moving Santa toward the 25th!

Winter Fun…

Friday night we went to Koziars Christmas Village with some friends.  All the kids really enjoyed seeing all the lights and hamming it up for some photos!

On Sunday we went to Bill’s company’s Holiday Gala. The girls had a lot of fun.  They decorated cookies, had their picture taken, saw a puppet show and best of all had their faces painted.

My butterflies…
