Holy cow, you’re a month older already. This summer really is flying by for Momma. With getting ready to move things have seemed like quite the whirlwind lately. That includes Daddy not having time to post the photos we’ve taken. They will be added to this letter in a few weeks when he has the time.

You have done a lot in the last month too. The biggest thing being that you have officially moved into the 1-2 year old room at daycare. You are no longer an infant by any stretch of the imagination. You are a toddler now. *sniff* I can’t believe you are a toddler already. Things are going well for you at daycare. We had to get over the big hump of you getting used to the new teachers. That took a good month. Yesterday was the first time I dropped you off that you didn’t cry when I had to leave. Hoping it wasn’t a fluke I held my breath when I took you in this morning. Sure enough you were fine again. It’s almost like someone flipped a switch over the weekend. Now I get you settled in with your breakfast and I can leave a happy kid. A much better way for me to start my day.

In the past month we have also found a new home for Jaxon. Oddly enough you don’t seem to miss him at all. When you saw him one afternoon you seemed excited to see him at first but then decided it wasn’t that big of a deal. He’s now living with neighbors of our friends. They really love him and since they are retired they get to spend all day with him. It’s a perfect situation all around. Momma and Daddy do miss him though.

You have recently started ‘talking’ when you play too. It’s fun to hear you do this. A lot of times you’ll talk to anyone who is around and acts like they completely understand what you’re saying. You have also changed how you ask for more. You don’t sign it anymore, but when you say you want more, you now say it twice. It sounds like “mo mo”. We have to remind you to sign please most days though. It’s a work in progress.

Daddy had a fun moment with you a few weeks ago. He came around the corner to find you standing in front of the (unplugged) paper shredder saying, “No..no..no” to yourself. I guess it has finally sunk in that it’s not just another toy to entertain you. We really do try to not use it when you’re around because we don’t want to encourage you to put things in it.

You had your first trip the Elmwood Park Zoo last week. We went with Dawn & Mark and the boys. You had a ball. You wanted to walk around like all the other kids so I pushed around an empty stroller. You had a fun time watching the otters and the goats. They really mad you laugh. This is making me look forward to going to Animal Kingdom with you in October. I think you’ll be entertained by many more animals there too.

You had your first injury related trip to the ER as well. You cut your face, near your left eye, in daycare one day. You fell and hit the little table. You are fine and your boo-boo is healing nicely.

This next month is going to be packed with changes for all of us. Next week we move into a big new house. You have to know that something is going on because our entire decor is now just different sizes of cardboard boxes. Well, your room is still decorated, but that will change very soon as we need to get it all packed up. I’ve been holding out on your room because I want you to have some sense of normalcy as long as possible. Just hang on for the fun to begin.

Love, Momma

injury-related trip to the ER happened Wednesday.

I got the call from daycare at 11:30am and was told that Rylee had fallen and hit her head on the table in the toddler room. She had a cut near her left eye and they thought it might need a stitch or two. In true Momma fashion I rushed around to get your stuff ready and to get you at daycare. I called the pediatrician and they told me that I had to take you the ER as they didn’t do stitches there. (Things have changed since Momma was little because I know my stitches were done in the doc’s office.)

I flew into daycare and there you were all cuddle up with Miss Shannon. As soon as you saw me you were sad again. We left there and headed to Phoenixville Hospital. (A side note here: The hospital is doing major renovations and the parking that was in the back for the ER is gone. That means that they have set up special parking out front for the ER, but no one cares and they park whereever they want when they are going in to have their bunions looked at.) Since there was no parking available I decided to use the free valet parking . The kid wanted to know how long my appt was for, I quickly told him we were headed to the ER so plan on a few hours. Good thing!

Two and a half hours later we left the ER with a steri-strip on your boo-boo and a band-aid over it to make sure you didn’t pick at it. You were such a champ in the hospital. You fell asleep about 20 minutes before the doctor finally saw you and you were groggy enough that you only fussed a little bit when they took of the original band-aid and put the new stuff on.

You slept the whole way home and for about another 20 minutes at home. After that you were up and your fun usual self. Daddy got home and we played for a bit before heading out to the Fireman’s Carnival for dinner and fun with Dawn & Mark’s family. After that you played for quite a while at home before you crashed. You fussed a bit overnight, but slept through. Today you are back to normal and at daycare again for more fun.

I am hoping, a lot, that this is only ER trip we have with you. However, since you have clumsy tendancies, much like your cousin Zoie, we aren’t going to hold our breath too long.

Well babe, it’s been another busy month for our family.

Well babe, it’s been another busy month for our family. In one short month we decided to start looking for a single family home again (we had stopped looking for a few months), found a place, put our house on the market and sold it. Actually it took less than one month for all of this to happen, more like three weeks. Whew! What a whirlwind of month it’s been!

In this month you achieved a major milestone—-you are now walking as your major mode of getting around. In less than a month you seem to have mastered walking in your bare feet. It’s fun to watch you toddle around the house. Daddy also decided it was time to teach you to go up the steps. Wow, could you be more proud of yourself? You are quite the pro at it. We’re still working on having you come back down. You’re almost getting the hang of it.

Your vocabulary is getting bigger, but only on your terms. Every now and then you will sign and say “All done” at the end of a meal. You have Momma and Dadda mastered and use them quite a bit. You are now signing “Please” after signing and saying “More”. Now and then a “Thank You” will slip out, but is more of a rare word for you.

We’ve noticed that you’re becoming a bit bored with some of your toys so we’re on the lookout for some that are more enteraining and educational for you. We got you a neat puzzle that has animals on it. When you put the puzzle piece on the board you hear the sound the animal makes. We think it’s pretty cool but you seem to just love dumping all the pieces and seeing how many you can hold in one hand.

At daycare they have just started to transition you into the toddler room. You are now spending about an hour or so a day in the room with the 1-2 year olds. You’ve done fairly well too. Your favorite part is that you get to go outside. You love being outside so this is a new bit of fun for you. It’s definitely an adjustment, but you are going to love it in there. You even brought home your first coloring project. Miss Tricia helped you with it and hangs on the fridge. We’re looking forward to getting much more artwork for the fridge soon.

You like to spend a lot of time riding around the house on the neat little vehicle that Yeh-Yeh and Ni-Ni got you for your birthday. You ride around and seem very intent most of the time. Then you hit a wall and get frustrated. You still to work on learning how to steer it.

You went to your first wedding this month too. Our friends Dawn & Mark were married and PaPa did their ceremony. It was a very nice evening and you had a lot of fun. Congrats to Dawn & Mark. You also welcomed 5, yes 5 new friends to the world this month. We are so excited for all of our friends and family who are enjoying their newborns. It’s been fun getting the announcements and photos!

We have started packing up the house for our move in August. You have been such a big help by constantly moving the same empty box all over the first floor. You think it’s hilarious to pick it up and drop it. Given this, you will not be asked to help pack the dishes. You are still in love with paper. Any kind of paper will do for you. You love to take it out of the office trash can and walk around with it some days. Other days you like to sit and crumple it or rip it. It’s nice to know we have so many toys for your entertainment taking up all kinds of space in the house.

The next month will be an interesting one as more of the house is packed up. You will probably wonder why we took down all the neat artwork and replaced it with boring brown boxes. I am waiting to take down the artwork in your room until the end though. You love pointing to Pooh and Tigger every day when you get up. When we walk out of your room, every time, you wave to them.

It’s been a fun month. I can only imagine what fun is in store ahead.

Love, Momma
